(0D) Greenhouse
The living conditions on earth are determined by the solar irradiation, the atmospheric cover and the resulting mild temperatures. Often this effect is referred to as the Greenhouse effect. In this page a simple zero-dimensional model of the energy balance , implemented as a JavaScript, is presented. This page is explained both in English and in Dutch.(1D) Ocean-model
The living conditions on earth are determined by the solar irradiation, the atmospheric cover and the resulting mild temperatures. Often this effect is referred to as the Greenhouse effect. This model takes into account the role of the sea and is based on "The Role of Deep Sea Heat Storage in the Secular Response to Climate Forcing", Journal of Geophysical Research, Vol. 85, 6667-6679, 1980 (Hoffert et al). This model has been modified by R. van Dorland and A. van Ulden of the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute and later by Hans Spoelder and Egbert Boeker. It is now implemented as a Java Applet. The graphical and animation features give a insight into complex phenomena that take place.
(2D) Ocean Model
A two-dimensional (2D) ocean model is constructed. Equations and a Mathematica ® notebook are displayed as well as results for a 'rectangular' ocean.egbertb@xs4all.nl
