Dr. Jeroen Koelemeij has been appointed as assistant professor in our department, in the section Quantum Metrology and Laser Applications. Jeroen’s research entails optical precision measurements of trapped molecular ions, with the goal to deepen our understanding of (and possibly detect yet undiscovered) fundamental laws of physics, and the development of optical technology that will make existing fiber-optic infrastructure ready for 'Super-GPS' network-timing and network-positioning features. Jeroen will also be involved in teaching in the bachelor and master programs in which our department is involved.
