NWO VENI grant for Bart van Oort
VU Biophysicist Bart van Oort receives a NWO Veni grant for his proposal "Mapping photosynthetic energy migration in relation to stress with novel microscopies".
Zonlicht levert de energie waarmee planten groeien, mits de zonne-energie de juiste plaats in de plant bereikt. De onderzoekers bouwen een nieuwe microscoop om te bestuderen hoe planten de weg wijzen aan zonne-energie. Ze letten daarbij op het effect van groei-omstandigheden.
How light travels through plants
Sunlight provides the energy for plants to grow, provided that the solar energy reaches the right places in a plant. The scientists will build a new microscope to study how plants show solar energy the way. They will pay special attention to the influence of growth conditions.
