Veni grant for Stefan Witte

X-ray pictures of communicating brain cells. Veni grant for Stefan Witte, November 2009

Dr. Stefan Witte, Atomic Physics.
The connections between braincells form the basis of our development, but are too small to be seen with a normal microscope. Dr Stefan Witte's research will be focused on the development of a high resolution X-ray microscope, which will allow an accurate study of the communication between cells.

For the past two years Dr Witte has been working on the development of novel label-free optical imaging techniques in the Neurolaser project, within the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam.

Veni grants are awarded to researchers who have recently taken their PhD and allow them to continue to develop their ideas; a maximum of 250,000 euro is awarded, for 3 years.
