Chameleon force

Chameleon fields are one of the candidates to explain the origin of the acceleration of our Universe and the nature of dark energy. We just started a new project that aims at detecting chameleon fields with a table-top experiment. The idea is to measure the force between two parallel plates kept at 10 microns as a function of the density of a neutral gas allowed in the measuring chamber. Due to a unique property of chameleon fields, we should then be able to detect their existence as a decrease of the total force between the plates when the pressure of the gas is incresed.
